Palma

Palma in the south, the island capital. The pivotal point on the island, in every respect. Palma is the seat of government of the Balearic Islands, in the industries dominate the tourism, retail, government and transportation. The old town is historic, the ambiance of the city can not escape and is best explored on foot to Palma. Lively bustle in the streets and there are no parking spaces to grab.
Palma is known primarily for its beaches near the city. Here you will find many hotels, restaurants, bars, pubs and discos.

History

123 BC the Romans conquered the city of Palma and Mallorca was founded. Four hundred years dominated Palma Romans, the Arabs came to 903. They built an Arab-Islamic culture and 1229 they were expelled by the Aragonese. A few years later the Kingdom of Mallorca was founded. Later we went back over to the house of Aragon, who built among others the construction of the Cathedral La Seu and the city's fortifications. Already in the 16th Century, approximately 40,000 residents live in Palma. At the beginning of the 20th Century came the modern style to Palma and after the Second World War, Majorca attracts many tourists.
